Charles Arthur Baylor is a songwriter, musician, and producer. He is a very gifted musician.

People thought he was dumb as a child. His only problem was that he couldn't read.  Charles found a bent trumpet behind his apartments when he was 10.  He took the trumpet, cleaned it up, and fixed it as best he could. He had to overcome an obstacle.  He had to learn how to read.  Charles' first grade teacher was one of the few people who had been nice to him.  She had not called him dumb. He really liked Mrs. Angie Adkins. She was his favorite teacher. He went to her and told her that he could not read.  He asked her to help him.  She agreed. She told him that it would cost him though.  In return for teaching Charles how to read, he had to rake leaves, shovel snow, and wash xMrs. Adkins' car. Charles readily agreed.  Charles began to learn to read. Mrs. Adkins helped Charles get a library card and showed him how to check out books. He began to check out books about trumpets and trumpet players.

After some time, Mrs. Adkins noticed that Charles checked out a lot of books and material on music. She asked Charles if he had an interest in music.  Charles told her yes.  Mrs. Adkins told him about her sister, Mrs. Nangie Stabilo, who was a music teacher.  Charles wanted to meet Mrs. Stabilo.  Mrs. Adkins took Charles to meet Mrs. Stabilo.  Mrs. Stabilo was the total opposite of Mrs. Adkins.  Mrs. Stabilo was mean and expected you to be perfect. Mrs. Stabilo was known for saying, "If you want to be the best you must be perfect. Perfection takes hard work, dedication, and more hard work.  My job is to work you hard!"

Mrs. Stabilo asked Charles to walk her dogs in return for his music lessons. Mrs. Stabilo had four dogs and they all were as big as houses. After two weeks of working with Mrs. Stabilo, Charles wanted to quit.  He talked to Mrs. Adkins. She told him to hang in there. Mrs. Stabilo seemed to work Charles even harder after he had talked to Mrs. Adkins. Mrs. Stabilo once told Charles, "Baby, a man that quits because he doesn't want to work is a sorry man.  A man that does his best is a man worth meeting."  Charles never forgot that.  He worked very hard from then on.

By the time Charles was 14, he could play the drums, piano, organ, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, and the flute.  He was a one man band.  The only person besides Mrs. Adkins and Mrs. Stabilo who knew of Charles' music and reading lessons was his best friend, Montfort Parks (Montie).  Montie was always encouraging Charles. Monfort also tried to get Charles to play for him when he sung, but Charles wouldn't play for Montie.  In high school, Monfort convinced Charles to form a singing group with him and two other guys that they knew.  The group didn't last long because of creative differences.

Charles had begun to write music with Mrs. Stabilo's help. She taught him how to score music.  She also taught him about copyright laws and other legal information. Charles would compose the music and Montie would write the lyrics.  They entered a jingle writing contest for BestMade Foods, Inc. in November 1994. Their jingle won.  Charles and Montie's music was featured in all of BestMade Foods' advertising.

Mrs. Stabilo was helpful in Charles selling his first song.  One of her other music students, Randy Jacobs, had signed a record deal wand was looking for songs. Mrs. Stabilo introduced Charles and Randy. Charles wrote two songs for Randy's CD.  Charles took the money that he made from writing the two songs and gave it to Mrs. Adkins and Mrs. Stabilo.

Charles had been acting as Montfort Parks manager. Mark LaRue, a talent scout for K-3080 Records, was interested in signing Montie to the label as a developmental artist.  Charles would not let Montie signed with K-3080.  Charles worked with Montie for over a year developing Montie's talent. Charles became so consumed with the music industry that he almost dropped out of high school.  Montfort told Charles that if he dropped out of school, Charles could not manage him.  Charles stayed in school and graduated. Mrs. Stabilo and Mrs. Adkins were helpful to Charles during this time.  They helped him get Montie's and a showcase for Montie ready.

In October 1996, Charles called Mark LaRue of K-3080 Records and asked him to attend a talent showcase that Charles had set-up for Montie.  Mark attended.  Charles handed Mark a demo tape and an artist package. Montie showed out at the talent showcase. Mark was very impressed with Charles and Montie's work.  Montie signed with K-3080 Records.

Charles has written and produced songs for a number of artists.  Charles also started an artist management company (CAB Artist Management) and a production company (For Mrs. Adkins and Mrs. Stabilo Productions).
